Abstract

In this essay, a set of deliberations are made around the question of rationality. Initial considerations will be on the pre-Hispanic people and societies of the indigenous in Colombia regarding their use and view of the land, the terrain they inhabited and where they developed their forms of subsistence. Subsequently, the processes that led to the creation of a colonial reality in the Colombian territory in the sixteenth century will be addressed. It is demonstrated that at that time there existed forms of agricultural production in the indigenous world that were propitious for the establishment of mechanisms of exploitation on a large scale by the European colonial powers.
